1. Service Scope
The Aunty Jane Teleabortion service provides access to Medical Abortion of Pregnancy (MTOP) via telehealth. This service is designed to increase access to safe and confidential abortion care, particularly for individuals in rural and regional areas. The service encompasses:

Eligibility Assessments: Determining client eligibility for medical abortion and Teleabortion based on clinical and logistical criteria. Clients are responsible for assessing their eligibility prior to booking Consult 1.

Telehealth Consultations: Conducting virtual consultations in two stages (“Consult 1” and “Consult 2”) to provide thorough clinical assessment, client counselling, and informed consent.

Prescription Management: Issuing e-prescriptions for required medications and facilitating medication pickup or delivery.

Medication Dispatch and Tracking: Partnering with pharmacies to ensure secure dispensing, packaging, and delivery of medications with tracking services provided.

Follow-Up Care: 21-Day Post Consultation after client-led LSUP testing. Access to 24/7 Nurse Support.

Administrative Support: Ensuring intake forms, payment processing, and client reminders are managed efficiently.
2. Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility for Teleabortion services includes the following requirements:

Residence in Australia.
-
Residing 2 hour’s drive from a 24-hour emergency medical care while taking abortion medication and the 4 days following.
-
No overseas travel planned within the next month.
-
Not experiencing moderate to severe vaginal bleeding or abdominal pain.
-
No known allergy to mifepristone, misoprostol or any prostaglandin.
-
No history of chronic adrenal failure.
-
Not taking tablet corticosteroid medication.
-
Not taking anticoagulants (not including aspirin).
-
No known bleeding disorder.
-
First day of your last period less than 56 days ago.
-
Age ≥ 16 years.
-
Proficiency in English to follow complex instructions (an interpreter cannot be used).

Access to a phone, internet, and email for communication.
3. Teleabortion Process Overview
3.1 Consult 1

Eligibility Confirmation: Review medical, obstetric, and psychosocial history. Confirm eligibility for Medical Abortion and Teleabortion services.

Ultrasound and Pathology: Request and review relevant imaging and laboratory tests as needed.
-
Client Counselling: Discuss the process, confirm understanding, and explore feelings surrounding the decision.
-
Medication Preferences: Determine the client’s preferred method of medication receipt (local pharmacy pickup or delivery).
3.2 Consult 2

Consent to Treatment: Obtain formal consent via Teleabortion Consent to Treatment form.
-
Clinical Review: Confirm eligibility, review ultrasound and pathology results, and address client questions.

Medication Prescription: Issue e-prescriptions for MS-2 Step, analgesia, and antiemetics, ensuring compliance with state and territory regulations.
3.3 Medication Dispatch
Partner pharmacies will:

Dispense, package, and courier prescribed medications.
-
Provide tracking details to clients and Teleabortion Nurse.
-
Include Aunty Jane Thrive Package, instructions, invoices, and LSUP kits in the medication package.
3.4 21-Day Post Consultation

Client-Led Follow-Up: Clients complete an LSUP prior to 21 days post-mifepristone.
-
Assessment: Discuss physical and emotional symptoms. Arrange further imaging and pathology testing if clinically indicated.

Aftercare Support: Discuss 24/7 Nursing Support.
-
Lost to Follow-Up: Use structured processes to attempt contact with clients who do not attend 21-Day Post Consultation.
4. Responsibilities
Client Responsibilities
-
Accurately complete intake forms and provide truthful information during consultations.
-
Ensure they meet eligibility criteria prior to booking Consult 1.
-
Attend scheduled consultations and follow medical advice provided.
-
Arrange access to a local health service within 2 hours of residence for emergency care if required.
-
Pay all fees for consultations and prescribed medications.
-
Follow instructions in the Clinical Support Guideline: Abortion by Telehealth Booklet.
-
Complete follow-up steps, including LSUP testing and attending the 21-Day Post Consultation.
Aunty Jane Responsibilities
-
Provide evidence-based and professional telehealth consultations.
-
Communicate risks of medical abortion & signs and symptoms of ectopic pregnancy verbally and in writing.
-
Ensure client confidentiality and compliance with privacy laws.
-
Facilitate access to medications through e-prescriptions and partner pharmacies.
-
Provide 24/7 aftercare support for clients experiencing complications via call, text and chat bot.
-
Manage intake forms, payment processing, and client reminders efficiently.
5. Confidentiality and Privacy
-
Aunty Jane collects and stores personal and medical information in compliance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and other applicable privacy regulations.

Client information will only be shared with authorised personnel and partner pharmacies as required for the provision of care.
-
All consultations and data storage are conducted on secure platforms to ensure confidentiality.
6. Payment Terms

A non-refundable booking fee is required to secure Consult 1.
-
Full payment for Consult 2 is required prior to the appointment.
-
Medication costs are paid directly to the dispensing pharmacy after Consult 2.
-
Clients are responsible for verifying the cost of medications with their chosen pharmacy.
7. Limitations of Liability
-
Aunty Jane is not responsible for pharmacy errors, medication shortages, or delivery delays.
-
Aunty Jane does not provide in-person consultations or emergency care services.
-
Clients assume responsibility for following medical advice and seeking emergency care if required.
8. Informed Consent

Clients must complete and submit the Teleabortion Consent to Treatment form during Consult 2.
-
Consent indicates that clients understand the risks, benefits, and process of medical abortion.
-
Clients acknowledge their responsibility to follow post-procedure care instructions and seek help for complications.
9. Dispute Resolution

Disputes arising from this service will first be addressed through good-faith discussions between the client and Aunty Jane.
-
If unresolved, disputes may be referred to mediation or arbitration in accordance with Australian law.
10. Termination of Service

Aunty Jane reserves the right to terminate services if:

Clients provide false or misleading information.
-
Clients fail to meet eligibility criteria.
-
Clients engage in abusive or inappropriate behaviour toward staff.
-
If there is evidence of coercion.
-
-
Termination will be communicated in writing, specifying the reasons.
11. Amendments
-
Aunty Jane reserves the right to amend this Terms & Conditions at any time.

Significant changes will be communicated to clients, and continued use of services constitutes acceptance of updated terms.
Aunty Jane is not liable for complications arising from failure to follow medical advice or failure to seek emergency care when instructed.
